Dearne House

Amy Harwood

Registered Manager of Dearne House

Hi I'm Amy,

I really enjoy spending time with my family and having lots of fun and laughter, especially with my little boy who certainly keeps me active. In my spare time I spend lots of time socialising with friends and accessing many fun activities like going to the cinema, swimming pools and trampoline parks.

I have worked within the care sector for 18 years in variety of different roles and areas. I have vast amounts of experience supporting young people with ASD and EBD and I also have many years experience supporting adults with mental health both within a residential setting and out in the community.

Throughout my 18 years experience, my roles have developed along with my experience which I gained initially from being a support worker supporting very complex young people, I then developed into a senior support worker role. I have experience as a service manager working within an adults residential service for 6 adults with many complex needs. Following this role, I went onto to be a Quality service manager within the community, supporting adults with LD, PD and mental health.

I have acquired qualifications along way to assist me within my role and to develop my knowledge and understanding to ensure the care and support I provide promotes positive outcomes for the young people we support. I have an NVQ Level 3 in supporting children and young adults in a residential setting. I have also completed Level 2 in mental health awareness. In addition to this in January 2023 I completed my NCFE CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.

I have completed many courses including DSL safeguarding lead, Safeguarding advanced level children's homes, positive behaviour support strategies, Global developmental delay, internet safety awareness, domestic violence awareness, first aid, food hygiene, CCE, CSE, CRE safer recruitment, GDPR. As a service we are dynamic, ensuring we remain positive and focused on our young people and their individual needs, this means that we offer person specific training for each individual ensuring we develop our knowledge and skills.

At Dearne house we have just achieved Good in all areas following our recent Ofsted inspection. This has been through team work and dedication, I am so proud of this accomplishments and the staff team at Dearne house and look forward to future accomplishments.

Dearne House is situated South of the river Dearne within South Yorkshire. The home provides accommodation for one young person supported by two staff 24 hours per day led by a dedicated House Manager.

Dearne House has excellent transport links and provides a homely environment for the young person to develop and succeed.
